Device

I have both of the Ulefone DMR phones. They are far from Motorola ION. More like regular phone with slapped together app for DMR. Big battery and okay specs.

DMR app called InterPhone controls the radio in Armor 26 Ultra Walkie Talkie just like in the previous model. Except this time the hardware supports VHF in addition of the old UHF. Basic FM and DMR support has been available. Making the codeplug for proper HAM use has been difficult. Usually this has involved rooting the device and taking out the DB file from the phone and editing it with sqlite editor. It was slightly better than editing on device.

New mod

I saw this mod for the interphone done by user Macgyvec3 it still requires root with magisk and LSPosed Zygisk.

Which means rooting is still required. This requires older bootloader and you still receive orange state message on boot which needs to be checked with power button on each boot. Documentation how to do it is available here

End result is more HAM related features in the app AND built in easy import and export of the configuration from the app. Exported CSV can be easily edited in OpenGD77 cps or my preffed way: Excel. Development seems to be fast but still a proper radio is much better experience.

TLRD: Get Anytone or Baofeng.

The app looks much better
